It’s comforting for me to know that I placed my father in the best environment possible for his specialized needs.
About the Florence & Chafetz Home for Specialized Care
Quality of Life for All Walks of Life
At Florence & Chafetz, our individual and group programs are custom designed to promote the physical, social and mental well-being of each resident.
Activities in both small and larger gatherings are held in the living rooms of each wing as well as in the inviting central café. Activity specialists facilitate discussions, sing-alongs, arts and crafts, games, exercise sessions, and holiday programs where friends and families are welcome to join.
Since opening in 2002, Florence & Chafetz Home for Specialized Care has provided intensive support, exceptional attention and spacious surroundings for residents living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, chronic cardiac conditions as well as disabilities following strokes and other related conditions.
The heart of the one-story, 36-bed home is an expansive, bright Great Room/activity area with welcoming furnishings and a hospitable café. Three wings branch north, east and west, each with twelve studio apartments. Each individual wing provides a living area, kosher dining room, and a snack kitchen. The three separate neighborhoods are home to residents with common conditions, thus ensuring optimum socialization and quality of life. Safety features are in place throughout the building.
Each private studio apartment includes a spacious bedroom with ample closet and storage space. Walk-in showers in each apartment provide seating and wheel chair access. Our residents are encouraged to bring their own familiar furnishings, TVs and mementos. Cable access is included.
Physically connected to Cohen Florence Levine Estates, Florence & Chafetz shares administration, staff and food services; however, it is tailored to the needs of each of our 36 residents. Our team of professionals is specially trained to anticipate the needs of our residents.
Designed by DiMella Shaffer Associates, Inc. of Boston, Florence & Chafetz was built largely through the generosity of Leonard Florence and Irwin Chafetz, long-time benefactors of the Chelsea Jewish Foundation. Continued support from the community enables Florence & Chafetz to uphold its excellent care.
